Book Week Parade

Oh my gosh, before the weekends came along, a Friday afternoon, we had a book week celebration at Randwick Park School. Room 10 was dressed up as Maori Greeks, which was half Maori and half Greek.
There were alot of amazing, homemade costumes. There was a boy that was dressed up as a girl, he had coconut bra, a purple lavalava and red highheels. When it was the year 3and 4 groups turn, they looked so cute with all their costumes. One of the classrooms I saw, room 22, they were amazed by alot of other people from other class rooms, they were dressed up as Greek gods. This was an amazing day for Randwick Park School. This was an enjoyable day for all the students and teachers, and also the parents that arrived to watch us all.

Just Dooze It - Performance

Randwick Park School Band, Just Dooze It, performed on Saturday 8th September 2012

Oh my gosh, guess what. Last week Saturday, Randwick Park Schools Band performed
at Auckland's Girls Grammar, called Bandquest. As we arrived we saw all the bands there. When all the band members entered the room we were all given a red band. Also, we entered the stage room. There were about seventeen bands that arrived at Auckland Girls Grammar as well. We were so surprised to be there and see what the other bands were going to be like.
The first band to play was Auckland Normal School, I think that they were really good singers. One of the schools that were there, Kedgley Intermediate, were totally waking everyone up with their singing. It was so good that I wanted to dance in front of the whole audience. So when it was our turn our band members, Lata, Bernadette and myself, we all had butterflies in our stomachs, I was mostly the nervous one. So as we were called on stage, the very first song we sang was " I Gotta Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas. As soon as we got to the song, "Forget You", we all pretended to drive a car and pretended to be a pretty girl. It was so funny, it made me laugh in the inside of my body. It was nearly the end of our song, by the way the songs that we sang was a remix.

Well anyways, this is just the beginning of our day, and also, all things that I was just telling you about it was just our rehearsal. Now for our real thing. After all seventeen bands finished rehearsing, we all had to wait outside. Anyway the rest of the bands went somewhere else while our band was still waiting there. One of my friends Billie was like should we play tag, and all replied, "alright". As soon as all the bands came back, Just Dooze It band ran as quickly as  as they could, but not to quickly though. Then the host came and slowly opened the door and everyone was like, "come on, lets go!". When we entered the room, our insides of our hearts were standing beneath us and saying, "well RPS this is just the beginning of our real performance, the door has opened for rock and roll". Suddenly, the man that was hosting the whole show, just announced our name, I was so nervous, but then I just realized that it couldn't of been our turn, so we were after these two younger boys, I was cheering for them because they were doing their very best.
Oh my gosh, it was our turn, my heart was beating and pounding like drum, so I said to myself, calm down, just pretend that it's your whole whanau sitting in these seats right now. The very first waiata that we sang was, Ka Poipoia, also it was followed by the same remix. Ramarihi Rangiaho introduced our band and the ones who were gonna sing, Ka Poipoia. Then we got up and rocked ourselves to, "I Gotta Feeling". As soon as the song " Forget You" came on, we were all pretending to drive in our cars. The audience was totally rocking to the song. Now to the final bit of our day.

The host arrived on stage and announced the ones who was gonna get a certificate. Then he pulled out a letter and announced, third, second and first place. In third place Ponsonby Intermediate, in second place was, Kowhai Intermediate and in first place was, "drum roll please", Kedgely Intermediate. They were very pleased about winning for the Band Quest Competition.

                                                          CONGRATULATIONS!
